SECTION –A

1.      What is mean deviation?

5.      A candidate obtained the following percentage of marks. English 60, Hindi 75, Mathematics 63, Physics 60, Chemistry 55. Find the weighted mean if weights are 1,1,2,3,3 respectively allotted to the subjects.
6.      The mean annual salary paid to all employees of a company was Rs 5000. The mean salaries paid to male and female employees were Rs 5200 and Rs 4200 respectively. Determine the percentage of males and females employed by the company.
7.      Write the formula for finding (i) upper quartile and (ii) mode in a continuous series
8.      Explain how median is obtained graphically.
9.      What are the essential characteristics of a good average?
10.  What is harmonic mean? Write the merits of Harmonic mean

12.  A man travels 600km by train at an average speed of 60kmph, 300km by boat at an average speed of 15kmph, 700km by plane at 350kmph and 25km by a taxi at 5-kmph. Find the average speed of the whole journey.
